Feast of Saint Philip and James, Apostles

1 Cor 15:1-8

A seminarian friend was visiting Florida and was at a Mass where he was introduced to the congregation that his family hailed from Louisiana.  After Mass, a man practically grabbed him and began to asked him where he was from Louisiana and then all of a sudden, in a thick Cajun accent the man said, “Who’s your daddy?” They found out that their families were from the same part of Louisiana, [I think it was called “backwater”].

So St. Philip today asks Jesus, “Who’s your daddy?”  This is a point of reflection for us because Jesus says whoever has seen me has seen the Father.  If we are to be Christians and even more so, an alter Christus, people must see Jesus in us so that they can be led to the Father.  On this last day of seminary, during finals, and through the summer let us not forget who we are to others and have that grace of final perseverance because the many people that we will encounter will be asking us: “Who’s your daddy?”
